After you hear back from us: Send us your E-mail address, real name, preferred penname, and title of the story on the first page of your submission. Please pick one E-mail to use with us, and stick with it, as we file queries by E-mail address, and if you use multiple accounts we cannot figure out who you are.
Send material either in .doc, .rtf, or .txt formats. You may also paste a shorter story or single chapter into E-mail. We cannot open or read Word Perfect (.wpd) files.
Minimum length is 15,000 words - there is no stated maximum, though it's unlikely we will often publish books over 120,000 words, and the majority of what we publish will fall below 60,000 words.
In order to pay you, we must have your real name and SSN. There are no exceptions to this. Of course, foreign authors are not required to provide SSN.
Quality is a big concern for us. If you can't be bothered to proofread, you can be sure we will not be bothered to publish. Spell checkers will not catch "there vs their" or "to vs too", or subject-verb agreement. This does matter.
Our categories are as follows:Novella:
15,000 - 30,000 words
Novel: 30,000-80,000 words
Supernovel: 80,000 words and above.
You get 50% of sales on all of your work, after we deduct credit card fees. These are approx. 10% of sale.
Here is the structure:We pay monthly - by the 21st of the month - for sales the previous month. We pay by check or Paypal. We issue all payment amounts, no matter how small, every month, and we deduct no fees for "processing" or writing the check. 1099 Forums will be issued in January of each year.
We offer a very standard work for hire agreement, with the sale of intellectual property. Our agreement is very much in line with what you would see with any publisher.
We encourage authors to use the web, forums and blogs to market the products available on our site. We recommend using the Blogger blogging platform. We have several authors with successful blogs of their own, and we encourage them to promote their writing this way. We currently do not pay for lead generation, but you do get paid if your book sells! Eventually, we plan on implementing an affiliate program like that offered by Amazon.com. Thus, you would get paid extra for referrals on top of your cut of sales.
